Ross Waters killed during M6 police pursuit
A man who was killed when he was hit by a car as he ran across a motorway during a police pursuit has been named by police.
Ross Waters, 33, from Blackpool, failed to stop after deliberately driving his car at a woman in Montague Street, South Shore, on Sunday, police said.
He drove off along the M55 in Blackpool before stopping near Charnock Richard services on the M6.
He ran across three lanes, before being killed on the opposite carriageway.
Mr Water was confirmed dead at the scene and the M6 was closed in both directions, between Junctions 27 and 28.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating.
Sgt Gareth Hill of the Lancashire Constabulary Road Policing Unit said: "The manner of driving during this pursuit was reckless in the extreme and it was only a matter of good fortune that no-one else was killed or seriously injured."
