A convicted sex offender wanted for a sex assault may pose a risk to the public, said Lancashire Police.

John Wilcock, 27, who was placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years was last seen in Blackburn, Lancashire.

He is wanted in connection with an assault and failing to keep the authorities informed of his whereabouts.

Police believe he may be in Preston or Blackburn. Det Sgt Craig Blackwell said he "may pose a risk to the public".

He added: "Wilcock is a registered sex offender who has failed to notify the authorities of his whereabouts and who is wanted for an assault."
