Leyland man admits baseball bat attack on paramedic

A man who fractured the skull of a trainee paramedic on a 999 call by attacking him with a baseball bat has admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

The victim, 26, was hit while answering a 999 call in Hillbrook Road, Leyland, Lancashire, at 23:20 BST on 13 October.

Lewis Westwood, 19, of Hillbrook Road, Leyland, also admitted criminal damage at Preston Crown Court.

Westwood will be sentenced on 10 February.

He denied affray and a second count of criminal damage that will remain on file.
