Ex-Commons deputy speaker Nigel Evans has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex offences against seven men.

Mr Evans, the MP for Ribble Valley in Lancashire, is accused of two counts of indecent assault, six of sexual assault, and one of rape.

He denies the charges, which date from 2002 to last year.

Mr Evans, 55, resigned as Commons deputy speaker after he was charged in September. He is due to go on trial at Preston Crown Court on 10 March.

He was given continued bail on condition that he does not contact any of the witnesses.
