An image of a mystery man found washed up on a Lancashire beach has been released by police.

Detectives hope the e-fit will identify the "smartly-dressed" man whose body was found by a dog walker on the beach at Rossall, near Fleetwood on Monday.

The body was then recovered by coastguards about a mile offshore.

Det Insp Bev Foster said: "We believe this man was only in the water for a short period of time and we are doing all we can to find out who he is."

He added: "I would ask people to look closely at the Evofit, particularly local hoteliers, and if they think they know or recognise this man, then I would urge them to come forward."

Police have described him as white, between 5ft 8in (1.72m) and 5ft 10in (1.78m), of medium build with light brown balding hair and blue eyes.
