A 38-year-old man has been killed in a car crash in Lancashire.

Kevin Williams, from Leyland, died when his car veered off Pope Lane in Penwortham, Preston, and hit a tree at about 20:25 BST on Friday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr Williams had been heading towards Chainhouse Lane, police said.

His family paid tribute saying he was "full of life and full of dreams". An investigation is under way and witnesses are being sought.

Sgt David Hurst said: "This is a tragic accident where a man has sadly died."

Mr Williams' partner Jade Moss, with whom he has a six-month-old daughter Peggy Sue, said: "More than anything he loved his daughter. He made us laugh he made us mad and now he's made us cry."

In a statement Mr Williams' father Roger and his father's fiancée Edith said: "When you were born I was the proudest father. I watched you grow into a fine young man.

"But now I have lost you forever but we will be together again one day."
