A woman has died after being hit by a falling shop sign in Lancashire, police said.

Officers were called to reports a sign had fallen from the front of the Waterstones bookshop in Bank Hey Street, Blackpool, at about 17:30 GMT.

The woman, believed to be in her 70s, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is under way and officers have cordoned off the area while investigations are carried out.
