'Treacherous' roads cause chaos
Snow and ice on roads in east and north Lancashire has caused disruption during the morning rush hour.
There was queuing traffic on the M65 westbound between Lostock Hall and Blackburn due to a stranded lorry, with hazardous driving conditions reported on the same motorway at Rishton.
Police in Lancaster described roads in the city as "treacherous".
Lancashire County Council said nine gritter trucks will keep monitoring and treating the main road network.
BBC weather said it will be brighter for a time before heavy rain, perhaps preceded by snow on the hills, and associated gales, locally severe, arrive by evening.
