Andrew Hayes: Man held on suspicion of Burnley murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man died after being found lying in a Lancashire street with head injuries.

Andrew Hayes, 37, was discovered on Lyndhurst Road, Burnley at 19:40 BST on Wednesday. He was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital and died in the early hours of Thursday morning.

He was described as a "gentle soul" who was "everyone's friend".

Police said a 29-year-old man, of no fixed address, was being questioned.
