A man has died in a car crash after a suspected "medical episode" at the wheel, police said.

Michael Lockwood was driving a red Ford Ranger on Cannon Street, Acrrington, at about 22:00 BST on Friday.

It is believed he fell ill at the wheel before his car hit three signposts and veered across the road, hitting a wall and a parked car.

The 72-year-old, from Nelson, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are appealing for witnesses.
