A trawler skipper has admitted sailing a vessel while over the alcohol limit after it ran aground in the River Wyre.

Fleetwood Inshore Lifeboat and the Fleetwood Coastguard rescued five men after the 60-tonne boat, the Corentine, was grounded shortly before 01:00 BST.

The skipper was arrested following a breath test, said HM Coastguard.

Michael Maceachern, 45, from York, appeared at Blackpool Magistrates' Court earlier and will be sentenced at a later date.
