Murder arrest after Jonathon Plum dies in St Annes assault

A man has died in hospital after suffering serious head injuries in an assault in Lancashire.

Jonathon James Plum, 37, from St Annes, was attacked on Wood Street near to the junction of Orchard Road in the early hours of Sunday morning, police said.

He was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital and died on Monday night.

A 20-year-old man from St Annes, arrested on suspicion of wounding, has been re-arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody.

Det Ch Insp Richard McCutcheon said: "The incident happened in a busy area close to several bars and we are keen to hear from anyone who has any information that could assist with our investigation."
