Man sexually assaults pensioner in Leeds

An elderly woman has been left "extremely distressed" after a man forced his way inside her home and sexually assaulted her.

The man barged into the flat on Pendas Way, in the Manston area of Leeds, after the 89-year-old woman answered the door to him.

He sexually assaulted her before dressing and leaving the flat.

Anyone with information about the incident, which happened last Friday morning, is urged to call police.

A police spokesman said the attacker appeared to have been holding a brown paper parcel.

He is described as white, aged between 35 to 45, 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in tall, of average build.

He was wearing a dark jacket and matching trousers which may have been a suit or a type of uniform and his hair was cut in a "neat and tidy" style.

The spokesman said: "The victim has been left extremely distressed by the incident but has been able to help police with their inquiries and is being cared for by her family."
