Searches for man missing after Wetherby night out
Police are carrying out "extensive" searches for a 22-year-old man who failed to return home after a night out in West Yorkshire.
Steven Johnson went out with a friend in Wetherby on Saturday but they were separated in the early hours of Sunday.
His mother contacted police after he did not return to his home in Clifford.
Detectives said they were concerned for his safety because his disappearance was out of character. The police helicopter has been used in the search.
Mr Johnson was last seen on the Wharfe Road Bridge between 0030 and 0100 BST.
Police said among the areas being searched were likely routes he may have taken while attempting to walk home from Wetherby to Clifford.
Det Ch Insp Lisa Griffin, of West Yorkshire Police, said: "We are trying to piece together Steven's movements on Saturday night and in the early hours of Sunday morning and we want to hear from anyone who may have seen someone matching Steven's description in the area around Wetherby from midnight onwards.
"We are particularly keen to hear from any taxi drivers who may have picked Steven up either on his own or with another male in the time around midnight to 1am."
Mr Johnson is described as white, about 5ft 8in tall, medium build with fair skin, blue eyes and short blond hair.
He is believed to have been wearing a dark blue t-shirt, blue jeans, black trainers and a black waistcoat.
