Pedestrian injured in Leeds hit-and-run

Police are hunting a hit-and-run driver who left a pedestrian suffering from head injuries when he was knocked down on a Leeds road.

The silver Mercedes hit the man on Harehills Lane, from York Road towards Compton Road, at 1620 GMT on Friday.

The 57-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The Mercedes left the scene after the collision and police are trying to trace the vehicle and driver.
