Mirfield gas explosion woman rescued

A woman has been rescued from a house in West Yorkshire after a gas explosion damaged the property.

Firefighters and police were called to the incident in Hepworth Lane, Mirfield, at 0600 GMT on Saturday.

The woman, aged about 50, was brought out of the damaged property by police, but was found to have escaped injury after being checked by paramedics.

Five neighbouring properties were evacuated and the area was cordoned off as gas engineers did safety checks.
