Woman quizzed over Cleckheaton party row stabbing
A 19-year-old woman arrested after a man was stabbed to death following a disturbance at a house party is still being questioned by police.
The 50-year-old man was attacked by a group of up to five people as he approached the house in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire, early on Saturday.
Police think the man, who suffered stab wounds to his back, had been on his way to help deal with an "altercation".
The woman was arrested on suspicion of murder, West Yorkshire Police said.
The victim died in Dewsbury District Hospital following the incident, which happened shortly before 0100 BST in Brooklyn Road.
Police said inquiries were continuing and the man would be formally identified after a post-mortem examination.
Det Ch Insp Simon Bottomley, of West Yorkshire Police, said: "This was a vicious attack which resulted in a man losing his life.
"At this stage of the investigation we believe that, following some disorder at a house party, the victim had been on his way to help.
"As a result, he was set upon by what we believe to be a group of five men and women and subsequently received stab wounds to his back.
"There were a lot of people in the street at the time of this attack and I urge them or anyone else who can assist us with this inquiry to contact police."
Streets leading to the housing estate where the incident happened were cordoned off on Saturday and police were questioning anyone leaving or entering.
