The death of a woman in the River Aire in Shipley may be linked to two attempted burglaries, police have said.

The woman, in her 20s, was found in the river at about 1000 BST after police were given information she got into difficulty there.

Police said the woman had gone into the water on Monday morning with another man who got out safely.

Detectives are investigating related reports of two burglaries in the same area in the early hours of Monday.

One of the offences was reported to have occurred at around 1240 BST at a flower shop on Bingley Road.

The other is alleged to have taken place at the Boathouse pub on Victoria Road at about 0145 BST.

Officers want to speak to anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour near these premises.

Police said two Bradford men aged 25 and 30 had been arrested in connection with the alleged burglary at the flower shop.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out later to establish the woman's cause of death.
