BBC Introducing for York & North Yorkshire
BBC Introducing has a new face for a New Year! Previously a reporter for the show, Jericho Keys has taken over the mantle as presenter from Jenny Eells from January 2013 - and it's a bigger, longer show. Now two hours long, we'll be able to bring you even more of the young talent talent dotted about our region. We'll still have an acoustic session plus new features like Sounds From The Seaside and the Industry Spotlight.
For those of you uninitiated with the show, it's two hours of the latest tracks from new and unsigned bands from across North Yorkshire. It's a large and varied county and that's reflected in the music sent in to the BBC Introducing programme for York & North Yorkshire. From indie to rock, folk to punk, dubstep to hip hop - it's all in there, sent in by you!
The show which goes out on BBC Radio York between 8-10pm on Saturday evenings, prides itself on the diversity of music played out across one of the UK's most beautiful counties.
Presenter Jericho has a passion for new music and hopes to get to as many gigs as possible this year in his quest to find the most innovative and exciting music in our county. But it's not just about playing your tracks to the North Yorkshire faithful - as Radio 1, 1Xtra and 6Music are always looking for our recommendations of new acts, so your band could go national before you know it. Jacobean Ruff, PartyClub and My Forever are just a few of the North Yorkshire acts who have gone on to attract airplay from the network.
Jericho will play the music sent in by YOU - the new and unsigned acts of North Yorkshire - via the BBC Introducing Uploader. The simplest way to get your music from you, via us, to the great listening public.
We'll also keep you up-to-date with all the bands worth catching in the county in our gig guide, courtesy of Soundsphere magazine's Dom Smith.
So, whether you've got music to contribute or you just want to hear what's goin' on - make a date to listen to BBC Introducing for York & North Yorkshire with Jericho Keys on Saturdays at 8pm on BBC Radio York. The show is also available to listen for seven days after broadcast on the BBC iPlayer.
