Gavin Clarke death: Second man charged with murder

A second man has been charged with murder after the death of a man who was shot in the face in Chapeltown, Leeds.

Gavin Clarke, 34, had been under armed guard in hospital with serious facial injuries but died on Friday. He had been shot on Monday, 8 August.

A 28-year-old man will appear before Leeds Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Afzal Arif, 23, appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Tuesday charged with murder. He is due to appear before the city's crown court on Wednesday.

Mr Arif, of Elford Grove, was remanded in custody.

Three men, aged 27, 31 and 38, and a woman, aged 22, have been charged with assisting an offender and appeared at the city's magistrates on Tuesday.

Saeed Hussein, Shahid Hussein and Sajjad Hussein, all of Harrogate Road, Alwoodley, are due to appear before Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday.

Ruqiah Begum, of Farm Hill Rise, will also appear before the city's crown court on Wednesday.

All four were remanded in custody.
