Gavin Clarke death accused appear in court

Six people charged over the death of a man who was shot in the face in Leeds have appeared in court.

Gavin Clarke, 34, died in hospital on 12 August after being shot in the Chapeltown area on 8 August.

Sohail Mahmood, 28, of Saville Road, and Afzal Arif, 23, of Elford Grove, have been charged with murdering Mr Clarke and were remanded in custody.

Three men and a woman have been charged with assisting an offender. All six will appear again on 9 November.

The three men, aged 27, 31 and 38, and the woman, aged 22, appeared at the city's crown court on Tuesday with Mr Mahmood and Mr Arif.

Saeed Hussein, Shahid Hussein and Sajjad Hussein, all of Harrogate Road, Alwoodley, were remanded in custody.

Ruqiah Begum, of Farm Hill Rise, was released on bail.
