Project starts in Wakefield to create one-way system

Work to create a new one-way system in Wakefield has started.

The North Wakefield Gateway scheme will see new bus lanes and a pedestrianised area on Bond Street after the shopping centre, Trinity Walk, opened this year.

The council said the car-free area close to the County Hall would make a huge difference to the road network.

Denise Jeffery, deputy leader of the Labour-run council, said the new layout would provide better access for visitors across the city.
