Drugs arrest after Leeds Met student found dead

A man is being questioned on suspicion of supplying drugs after a Leeds university student was found dead in his halls of residence.

Adam Dixon, a first year Leeds Metropolitan University student from Halifax, was found at Beckett Park halls of residence on Sunday.

West Yorkshire Police said they were not treating the 18-year-old's death as suspicious.

A 22-year-old man from Headingley has been arrested and is in police custody.

A police spokesman said detectives were waiting for the results of toxicology tests after a post-mortem examination took place on Sunday.

He said an inquest into Mr Dixon's death was due to open later this week.

In a statement the university said: "His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time.

"Adam, who was studying a multimedia technology course, was a very popular student and will be greatly missed.

"We are offering support to students who have been affected by Adam's death and we are working with the police and the coroner's office whilst they conduct their investigations."
