Woman rescued from River Aire in Leeds

A woman trapped in the River Aire in West Yorkshire has been rescued.

West Yorkshire Fire Service said they received a call at about 00:25 BST on Wednesday when the woman was spotted in the water.

Five fire engines were sent to Bridge End in the city centre to rescue the stricken woman.

A fire service spokesperson said it was believed the woman had been on a night out. She was treated by paramedics at the scene.
