Bingley police investigate doorstep stabbing

A man has been stabbed in the throat on the doorstep of his home.

Police said the 53-year-old confronted a man aged about 20 in the garden of his home on Wagon Lane, Bingley, near Bradford, on Saturday night.

West Yorkshire Police said the younger man claimed he was looking for something in the garden and the homeowner gave him a torch.

Ten minutes later the victim answered a knock at his door and was stabbed in the throat. He is stable in hospital.

The suspect is described as white, 6ft tall, of medium build, with short hair. He was said to be well spoken, with a "geeky demeanour" and was wearing a brown jumper with a zig-zag pattern.

Det Insp Richard Partis urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
