Teenager dies after collapsing at Leeds Festival

A teenager has died after collapsing at Leeds Festival.

West Yorkshire Police said James Houghton, 19, from Hartlepool, was pronounced dead at the Bramham Park site on Sunday night.

A spokeswoman said his death was "unexplained" but was not being treated as suspicious.

The teenager, who had gone to the event with friends, was due to take up a place at Manchester University.

Police said officers were called to the on-site medical facilities shortly after 23:20 BST on Sunday following the teenager's collapse elsewhere on site.

'State of shock'

Mr Houghton was a keen guitarist who was involved with the Red Dreams charity, which nurtures young talent.

It was founded by Dawn McManus after the death of her son Kyle from a brain haemorrhage in 2007.

She said: "James was very sociable, very funny, a very good guitarist and was in a band here for a number of years."

She added: "Everyone is in a state of shock. All we can do is support his friends."
