River Aire search recovers body of a man

The body of a man has been recovered from the River Aire in Leeds city centre, West Yorkshire Police said.

Police divers found the body in the water at about 12:00 GMT and the coroner has been informed.

Det Insp Marc Bowes said the incident was being treated as "an unexplained sudden death". The force is trying to establish the man's identity.

Police and the fire service were called to the river at about 08:00 and specialist divers joined in the search.
