Leeds Car park shuts for Victoria Gate construction work

A city centre car park will close and some bus stops will be suspended as the first stage of building a £150m shopping centre begins.

The parking facility at Union Street in Leeds will close on Saturday evening in preparation for the building of Victoria Gate complex.

The new centre will have a John Lewis store along with 30 other shops and an 800-space multi-storey car park.

The shopping centre is due to open in 2016.

Some bus stops on Eastgate will also be suspended during the construction work and additional bus stops will be added along the Headrow.
