Three young girls sexually assaulted in Castleford

Three girls, all under seven, have been sexually assaulted in two separate attacks in Castleford, West Yorkshire Police said.

The first attack happened on Saturday evening near Garden Street, in Half Acres, when two girls aged five and six, were assaulted by a man.

A second six-year-old girl was attacked by a man while playing with a friend in nearby Barnes Road the following day.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with both assaults.

Police said that on each occasion the attacker had stopped to speak to the girls before assaulting them.

The suspect was described as a white male aged 25 to 35 years of age with light-coloured, short hair.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
