Man dies after stolen car crashes in Leeds North Park Avenue

A 23-year-old passenger in a stolen car was killed when the driver crashes it into a tree in Leeds.

Luke Goodyear, 23, from the city, died when the silver Toyota Aygo hit a tree on North Park Avenue, Roundhay, at about 15:45 BST on Saturday.

Police believe Mr Goodyear was the only passenger in the vehicle. The driver fled the scene.

Four people were arrested in connection with the incident. Two were bailed and two were released without charge.

The car, registration CA06 RKJ, had been stolen in a robbery in the Harehills area on 11 August, police said.

Det Ch Insp Jim Dunkerley said: "We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision itself or the circumstances leading up to it or who saw the driver leaving the scene.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who has any information about where the Toyota Aygo has been since it was stolen."
