Two people were injured when a car was driven the wrong way down the M62 in West Yorkshire.

Police said a Vauxhall Zafira left Hartshead Moor Services and headed eastwards on the westbound carriageway.

The car hit two other vehicles and the debris from the crash damaged two other cars.

The driver of the Zafira and a 40-year-old woman driving one of the cars were taken to hospital.

Both are in a stable condition in Leeds General Infirmary and police said their injuries were not life-threatening.

Police described the driver of the Zafira as "a 37-year-old Bradford resident."

The incident happened at 21:00 BST and part of the motorway was closed for a number of hours.
