Teenage girl hit in face with machete in Leeds

A 16-year-old girl is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit in the face with a machete.

West Yorkshire Police said the teenager was "targeted" on Monday night in Lingfield Drive, Moortown, Leeds after a fight earlier in the evening.

She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary and her condition is stable.

A 20-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl have been arrested and bailed pending further inquiries. Officers have appealed for witnesses.

Det Insp Sean Duggan said: "This was clearly a very serious assault.

"This appears to have been a targeted attack that may have resulted from an earlier fight involving the victim and another girl."
