Huddersfield woman and dog killed in car crash

A 72-year-old woman and her dog died when they were knocked down by a car in West Yorkshire, police have said.

The woman was walking with her dog on the A640 New Hey Road, Outlane, in Huddersfield, when she was hit by a silver Peugeot just before 08:00 GMT on Friday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

West Yorkshire Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
