A man has denied starting a fire that left the former Leeds Majestyk nightclub badly damaged.

Stuart Jefferson, 32, of Broadlee Street, Leeds, appeared at the city's crown court accused of two counts of arson.

The blaze at the Grade II-listed building in City Square broke out on 30 September.

Mr Jefferson was remanded in custody and is due to appear at the same court for trial on 30 March.
