Motorists face 24 mile A64 diversion for resurfacing work

A two-mile stretch of the A64 in North Yorkshire has been closed for resurfacing.

Traffic is being diverted 24 miles around the affected section between East Knapton and West Heslerton.

The Highways Agency said the closure would remain in place until 06:00 GMT on Monday, 23 February.

The work includes patching and resurfacing the carriageway and renewing road markings and roads studs.

Traffic is being diverted along the A169, A170 and B1261 Seamer Road.

The work is part of a a £3.3m scheme to improve the road, taking place in four stages until March in an effort to improve road safety.
