Leeds nightclub assault: Man arrested in West Midlands

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following a serious attack outside a nightclub.

A 23-year-old man from Wakefield was attacked by two men outside Club Mission, Heaton's Court, in Leeds City Centre, at about 03:30 GMT on Sunday.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man after he attended a police station in Walsall, West Midlands, on Sunday night.

Officers want to speak to a second man about the incident.

They released CCTV images of two men they wanted to speak to in relation to the attack on Sunday.

Det Ch Insp Steve Snow, of West Yorkshire Police, said the second man is also believed to be from the West Midlands.

"He has a distinctive 'undercut' hairstyle, which is shaved all the way around the level of the ears, and then pointed at the front," he said.

Police said the arrested man had been brought to Leeds and was being held in custody.

The victim is said to be in a critical condition in Leeds General Infirmary.
