Sowerby fatal stabbing victim named as Mahala Rhodes

A woman who was found with stabbed to death at a property in West Yorkshire has been named by police.

Mahala Rhodes, 42, of Rooley Heights, Sowerby, Halifax, was found there on Wednesday evening and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

A post-mortem examination revealed she had died as a result of a single stab wound at the property at 17:52 on Wednesday, police said.

A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He remained in hospital under police guard.

Police previously said the man had also suffered stab wounds that were not considered to be life-threatening.

Det Ch Insp Steve Snow said he would be interviewed by officers "once he is well enough".
