The discovery of an abandoned tent by the side of a river in West Yorkshire has led police to investigate the whereabouts of a man and a woman.

A Poundland shop receipt was found near the tent on the banks of the River Calder, police said.

Officers have traced the receipt to a store in Dewsbury, and released CCTV of an unknown woman who they are now searching for.

Police are also looking for a man they said may have been living by the river.

The tent was found pitched on the river bank on 30 March, West Yorkshire Police said.

Officers are keen to identify the woman seen at the store to "check on her welfare".

Det Insp Stef Wiseman said: "We are also keen to speak to the man pictured to verify that it was him living in the tent, and that he is OK."
