Leeds murder inquiry after Gipton house attack

A murder investigation has begun following the death of a 29-year-old man who was attacked at a house in Leeds.

Several people are thought to have been involved in the assault, West Yorkshire Police said.

Officers were called to an address on Coldcotes Crescent in Gipton at 02:52 BST, where the victim was found with serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance but pronounced dead a short time later.

Det Ch Insp Mark Swift said: "We believe the victim has been assaulted by a number of attackers who have run off towards Harehills Cemetery and the playing fields.

"These scenes are currently undergoing full forensic examinations and a post-mortem examination is due to take place later.

"We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed anything at the time or who saw the men involved arriving at or leaving the address."
