Leeds is playing host to a giant street party featuring the world's biggest glitter ball.

The event, part of the Yorkshire Festival, will see thousands of people dancing beneath a 34ft (10.33m) diameter disco globe.

As well as the "big disco" in Leeds city-centre there will be a number of other dances held across the county.

Organisers hope that more than 25,000 people across Yorkshire will take part in a synchronised dance.

Event organiser Laura Wellington, said: "Big Disco is all about community and bringing people together to share one epic moment, so in the party spirit, there is truly something for everyone."

The two-week long Yorkshire Festival includes exhibitions, events and performances across the county.

Highlights include a ""fire garden" in a Harrogate park and an aerial dance performance in Hull.
