A police officer who filmed a teenage girl undressing on a camera he hid inside a smoke alarm has been jailed.

West Yorkshire PC Marc Silkstone, 37, was sentenced to 18 months at Leeds Crown Court after pleading guilty to four counts of voyeurism.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post footage of the teenager and two other girls was discovered when police raided Silkstone's home in Leeds.

The offences took place between 2012 and 2016.

Det Ch Supt Julie Sykes, head of West Yorkshire Police Professional Standards, said Silkstone had displayed "the most appalling and blatant abuse of trust".

"This wholly inexcusable behaviour has quite rightly resulted in the judge imposing this sentence today and a sexual harm prevention order to help safeguard other young people from offending by him in the future," she said.

"Now that court proceedings have finished, we will bring the outstanding disciplinary matters to conclusion as quickly as possible."
