Leicestershire's faith, science and art is honoured

A philanthropist heads those people in Leicestershire to be honoured in the Queen's New Year Honours list.

Dr David Wilson, from Lowesby, is appointed CBE for his services to young people.

An OBE appointment has been awarded to the Reverend Canon Andrew Wingate for inter-faith relations and to the community in Leicester.

Professor Tudor Bowden Jones, for services to science, and Sarup Singh Dhandia, for art, are made MBEs.

Children and young people

Community and voluntary work in Leicestershire and Rutland has also been recognised.

Richard Everard, from Market Harborough, is appointed OBE for services to the community.

Angela Wallace, of Cossington, has become an MBE for her voluntary work at Cossington Primary School.

MBE appointments have also been awarded to Evelyn Crabtree, for services to the community in Hinckley, Rita Nicholls, for services to the community in Leicestershire, Anthony Smith for services to special needs children and young people, and William Swinford, for community work in Evington.

Julia Malkin is appointed MBE for services to people with special needs.
