Body found in canal search for missing Leicester man

Police and specialist divers who have been searching a canal as part of their investigation into the disappearance of a 67-year-old man have found a body.

Arthur Prosser was last seen when he left his home on Saxon Street, in Leicester, at about 1030 GMT on Friday 3 December.

Divers searched a stretch of the Grand Union Canal in Leicester.

Officers believe the body is that of Mr Prosser, but formal identification by the coroner is yet to take place.

His body was discovered just before 1200 GMT on Wednesday in the water near to Eastern Boulevard.

Police carried out a forensic examination of the area near to where Mr Prosser's body was found.
