Driver killed in Burbage lorry crash named

Police have named a man killed in a crash between a car and an articulated lorry in Leicestershire.

Simon Baldwin's Toyota Celica was in collision with the Scania lorry in Burbage on Friday.

The 41-year-old, from Earl Shilton, was pronounced dead at the scene on the A5 at Smockington Hollow. Mr Baldwin was going towards Hinckley.

Any witnesses to the crash, which happened near the B4114 junction at about 1525 GMT, should contact police.

Det Cons Nick Bryan from Leicestershire Police said: "The Toyota was travelling along the A5 in the direction of Hinckley and the lorry was travelling in the opposite direction when the collision happened.

"We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who saw either of the vehicles in the area beforehand."
