Pedestrian dies in M69 crash near Hinckley

A man has died after being hit by a car on the M69 in Leicestershire.

The pedestrian was struck by a grey Volvo S40 on the northbound carriageway near junction two at Hinckley in the early hours.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The car's driver was also seriously injured and has been taken to hospital.

The carriageway has been shut between junctions one and two, and police said it was expected to remain closed until at least midday.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, at about 0245 GMT, should contact the Leicestershire force.
