Pedestrian killed in M69 crash near Hinckley named

Police have named a pedestrian who died when he was hit by a car on the M69 in Leicestershire.

James Fowler, aged 24, from Bridgwater in Somerset, was struck by a dark blue Volvo S40 on the northbound carriageway near junction two at Hinckley.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The car's driver is being treated for serious injuries in hospital.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, at about 0245 GMT on Monday, should contact Leicestershire police.
