Tories name Leicester South by-election candidate

The Conservatives have named their candidate for the Leicester South by-election in May.

Jane Hunt will go head-to-head with Labour's candidate Jonathan Ashworth and Liberal Democrat Zuffar Haq.

The by-election has been prompted by Sir Peter Soulsby stepping down as an MP to run for the new role of Leicester's directly elected mayor.

Residents face three other ballots on 5 May, city and mayoral elections and the alternative vote referendum.

Leicester City Council is currently under Labour control.
