Man's leg broken in Leicester robbery attack

A 56-year-old man suffered a broken leg when he was robbed of a large amount of cash in Leicester.

The victim had just withdrawn the money from a bank when he was confronted on Halkin Street by a man with a knife.

Police said the attacker set upon the man who broke his leg, before running off with the cash.

The victim was said to have been left extremely shocked and distressed by the incident on Tuesday.

The suspect is described as an Asian man of stocky build, about 5ft 10in tall, with very short shaved hair which was receding on top.

It is believed he made his escape on a black mountain bike in the direction of Melton Road.

Det Con Sophie Stevens said: "There were a number of people in the area and we are in the process of speaking to everyone who has come forward."
