Upgrade work starts on bus stop shelters

A £130,000 project to upgrade bus stops for passengers between Loughborough and Grantham has started.

Raised kerbs have been installed along stops to improve access for older people, parents with pushchairs and people with mobility problems.

The Leicestershire County Council improvements also include new bus stop signs, timetables and shelters.

Lincolnshire County Council has upgraded stops on its section of the route.

Lesley Pendleton from Leicestershire County Council said: "The bus stop upgrades will make the service much more accessible and will hopefully encourage more people to use the bus instead of their car.

"Using buses helps to reduce congestion on our roads and is better for the environment."
