New £60,000 Hathern-Loughborough cycle path completed

A new foot and cycle path has been been created, linking a village with a major road in Leicestershire.

The £60,000 path runs from Loughborough Road in Hathern to the A6 and is designed to increase safety for cyclists on a busy stretch of road.

Lesley Pendleton, Leicestershire County Council cabinet member for environment and transport said she hoped more people would get on their bikes.

The path took two months to complete and is now fully open.

"The new cycleway is a real boost for Hathern residents and enables them to reach Loughborough more safely by bike," said Ms Pendleton.
